Receiving calls
Once that you are logged on the application, you can receive calls from other user of external calls as well. The calls will be received even if you are working with other applications. Different notifications will appear in order to get your attention:
Acoustic notification
Visual notification
Push notification
The notification mechanism depends on the environment and device: Quobis collaborator
Desktop browser: you’ll receive a browser notification as long as you’re logged and the browser is running. Also the page title and icon will be updated showing a red icon and the number of pending notifications.
Desktop application: you’ll receive a OS notification, even if the application is running in the background.
Mobile application (iOS, Android): a push notification will be received on the mobile phone and a incoming call screen will be displayed to answer the incoming call.
There are two main actions here:
Answer the call clicking on the green button
You also can decline the call pressing on the red button
The call will be identified with:
Contact avatar and name configured, when the incoming call is detected as a user contact. Check more at agenda.
The phone number, when the caller is a PSTN number or a SIP extension.
The username, when the caller is another Quobis collaborator collaborator user.
The avatar, when the caller is another Quobis collaborator collaborator user.
The “guest name” and avatar, when the caller is a guest user calling via a “Personal URL link”.
Calls received from SIP or PSTN will include the phone number received from the voice network (field FROM of the SIP INVITE). In addition, if the phone number received exactly matches a contact on your agenda, the name of the contact will be displayed in addition to the phone number. These calls can be handled as any other calls, but video capability will be limited on the phone side, so audio response is exposed by default.
Receiving a call while on call
In the event that a user places a call to another user who is on a call, there are two different behaviors depending on the system configuration:
1. User are not notified of incoming calls while there are in a call.
If the system is configured in this way, the caller will get a “busy” message and the callee won’t be notified in that moment that someone else is calling. In other words, the user cannot be disturbed while he’s on a call. The call will be shown on the call history as a rejected call.
2. User are notified of incoming calls while there are in a call.
If the system is configured in this way, the user will see a new notification box on the bottom side of the screen showing:
the phone number, when the caller is a PSTN number or a SIP extension
the username, when the caller is another Quobis collaborator user
two action buttons: answer or hang-up
In such a situation, there are three options:
Reject the incoming call, by clicking on the white hangout button . The caller will see a notification message indicating that the callee has rejected the call, and the call will be shown on the callee side as “rejected”
Answer the incoming call, by clicking in the white answer button . In that case, the current call will be put on hold (see chapter Call holding for more information). If the presence service is activated, the presence of the user will change to “Busy” as well so other users know that he/she is in a call (as long as this setting is configured by the administrator)
Terminate the current call, by clicking on the red hangup button of the main call . That won’t automatically answer the incoming call, that will keep ringing until it’s taken care of.
Please note that there is no way to bind the two calls together in this scenario into a multiparty call. In order to do so, the user must be the one who initiates the calls. Please see chapter multiparty conferences for more information on multiparty calls.
In addition, Quobis collaborator supports multiple calls being received on the same account. In this scenario, the user will be prompted with a scrollable list, starting at the bottom of the screen, of all the incoming calls. This list will show the phone number (when the caller is a PSTN number or a SIP extension) or username (when the caller is another Quobis collaborator user), and two action buttons:
In this situation, similarly to the one before, there are two options for each individual call
Reject the incoming call, by clicking on the white hangout button . The caller will see a notification message indicating that the callee has rejected the call, and the call will be shown on the callee side as “rejected”
Answer the incoming call, by clicking in the white answer button . In that case, the current call, if any, will be put on hold (see chapter Call holding for more information).
